Description
Cadbury's milk chocolate. 19th-century advert for an early type of milk chocolate sold by the Cadbury brothers and based on a recipe by the English physician Hans Sloane (1660-1753). Sloane had discovered his recipe, which involved mixing milk with cocoa bean extracts, while travelling in Jamaica in 1687 and 1688. The Cadbury brothers' version was produced between 1849 and 1875. The Cadbury brothers were from Birmingham, and had opened an office in London by 1853. The company they founded became one of the world's leading confectionery companies.
